Happiness Comes in Odd Ways
Jun. 18th, 2004 02:29 pmI felt like crap when I got up this morning. Didn't sleep well, was achy, didn't eat well last night. I schlepped myself into the living room and plopped onto the couch. On the coffee table was The Ultimate Country Fake Book, so I picked it up and started flipping through it. I've had it for about a year, but I've only looked at a few of the 700 songs in it. I don't really listen to country
but I do like a lot of pre-1980s country, especially the story songs.
I came across the music for Yakety Sax, better known these days as the theme to The Benny Hill Show. I was a little surprised to see it in a country book but apparently Chet Atkins did a version (plus the book is pretty liberal about "country"). Just reading the sheet music made me smile and chuckle a little; I suddenly found myself feeling much better.
