1. Where did you get your LJ name from?

My username from Cal Poly's sundry computer systems, first initial and last name. My then roommate Len started calling me Smead in real life and it quickly spread throughout the marching band and geek/punk circles. It is still my de facto name with both those groups, and there is a contingent in each that doesn't even know my actual full name. I've embraced it (I did get a personalized license plate of it, after all), but only rarely call myself by it.

2. What color pants are you wearing?

Blue.

3. What are you listening to right now?

The mellifluous strains of rain and forced-air heating.

4. What is the last thing you ate?

Wallaby blueberry lowfat yogurt, a banana, and some almonds.

5. Do you wish on stars?

Nope.

6. If you were a crayon, what color would you be?

Midnight Blue, but only because Crayola doesn't have a Charcoal Grey and I was always partial to Crayola.

7. How is the weather right now?

A little cold and wet for my tastes; I much prefer hot and wet.

9. Do you like the person who you got this meme from?

I got it from multiple, but I like them all; liking people is my default state. When I meet someone new, I like them unless/until they cause me to feel otherwise, which only rarely happens.

10. How are you today?

Fairly typical.

11. Favorite drink?

Cool, clear water.

12. Favorite alcoholic drink?

Tie between gin and tonic with a twist of lime, and a nice medium-to-dark ale.

13. Favorite sport?

To watch? Maybe track or World's Strongest Man. To play? I prefer non-sport athletic activities.

14. Hair color?

Light brown.

15. Eye color?

Green/Hazel.

16. Do you wear contacts?

Aye. I've been wearing them for a little over a year now and I can't imagine going back to glasses. I tried contacts back in 1990 and failed miserably, but both contacts and I have come a long way since then.

17. Number of siblings?

I had an older sister but she died of cancer a few years ago.

18. Favorite month?

May.

19. Favorite food?

I don't really have a favorite food. I have favorite foods in certain categories (condiments:mustard, cookies:oatmeal, meat:chicken, cheese:Havarti, ...), favorite food ethnicities (Mexican, Italian, Indian), but nothing I'd call my favorite food. That said, I'll pick pizza as I am rather fond of both eating it and making it, and for its astonishing breadth.

20. Last movie you watched?

In theater, Garden State.

22. What do you do to vent or release your anger?

Curse loudly, but not particularly vehemently.

23. What was your favorite toy as a child?

I was a fickle child, my favorite toy was that with the greatest novelty factor at the time, which wasn't always the strictly newest toy.

24. Summer or winter?

Definitely Summer. In fact, I'd like to live in the tropics someday.

25. Hugs or kisses?

Kisses, I've never been much of a hugger.

26. Chocolate or vanilla?

Vanilla is probably my favorite flavor/scent, but I often hanker for hunk of chocolate, the darker the better. I don't typically eat chocolate-flavored things, though. I have a version of karenbynight's aversion.

27. Do you want your friends to comment on your responses?

Only if they feel so inclined.

30. Living arrangements?

Live alone in a rented, 1-bedroom house. It was brand new when I moved in 2.5 years ago, so I'm the only person who has ever lived there, which is kind of cool.

31. When was the last time you cried?

I have no distinct recollection, it's probably been a couple of years.

32. What is under your bed?

The middle drawer of a sectional chest of drawers, a paper-drawer/printer-stand thingie, small tub of shoe polishing supplies, three tubs of miscellanea.

33. Who is the friend you have had the longest?

My friend April, who just recently moved to Missouri. We've been friends since 1986, when we were freshmen in high school.

34. What did you do last night?

Lifted weights, grilled some peppered-bacon and provolone turkey burgers, used the insatiable electric aardvark on some ants, played some banjo, watched The Daily Show, danced with Mary Jane.

36. What inspires you?

Passion, beauty, efficiency, knowledge, whim.

37. What are you afraid of?

Death.

38. Plain, buttered, or salted popcorn?

Kettle Corn.

39. Favorite car?

I don't have one; I'm not really a car person.

Lobelia Erinus, deep blue varieties.

42. Can you juggle?

Nope. Though elsparquito gave me his Juggling book years ago, I've never managed to get around to reading it.

43. Favorite day of the week?

Saturday.

44. What did you do on your last birthday?

I spent a quiet night at home, alone, thinking about life. It's the only birthday I've ever spent alone, and it was nice.

45. Do you have a donor card?

No, but only because I'm a slacker.
